ADDRESS IN CHINESE CHOP

From September 1971 until at least June 1972, two chops were used by the Taipei Post Office requesting the addition of the address in Chinese. The chops seen are in violet and numbered one or two in Chinese, approximately 10 x 38mm in size. Figure 1 is a typical cover, figures 2 and 3 are the two chops. The translation is: “On domestic mail, please also indicate the address in Chinese.” These are used on covers with only the address written in English.
